Frequently Asked Questions

What is vBase?

vBase is a system for creating and sharing verifiable portfolio history, aka track records, for any investment strategy

How does this help me stand out to allocators or clients?

Most managers present performance in ways that can’t be independently verified: spreadsheets, pitch decks, or static reports.

By contrast, a verifiable track record shows allocators you can provide proof, not just claims. Much like an automated 3rd party audit.

In a crowded field, being able to show verified results makes you look credible, disciplined, and differentiated from competitors.

How does it work?

vBase creates a record of your portfolio history that has verifiable timestamps and integrity by recording timestamped digital fingerprints calculated from your portfolio to a tamperproof database.

We then allow anyone to verify this portfolio history with a single click.

The vBase system creates proof of performance as well as proof that your performance is being honestly presented.

What does it mean to have a “verifiable track record”?

A verifiable track record is a performance history that can be independently checked and proven authentic.

Instead of asking investors to take your word for it, you build an audit trail that results in a track record that investors and allocators can trust — transparent, tamper-proof, and backed by cryptographic proof.

Who typically uses validityBase for track records?

We work with a wide range of users who wish to enhance the credibility of their investment performance. Our clients choose vBase because the alternatives are often expensive (e.g. audits), complex, or unavailable.

We work with the following types of investment clients:

  • Funds
  • Individual & proprietary traders
  • Simulated, model & paper strategies
  • Signal builders
  • Bespoke and client-specific mandates
  • Strategy variants & sleeves
  • New, transitional, or special situation accounts
How is this different from screenshots, backtests and account statements?

Backtests and screenshots can be edited, cherry-picked, or created after the fact. There’s no way for an investor to know if they’re genuine.

Account statements have similar issues, and are often difficult to ingest and interpret.

A vBase track record, by contrast, is timestamped at the moment the data is created and can be verified with a couple clicks. Each portfolio allocation is locked in with a cryptographic proof, so anyone can confirm that performance wasn’t modified later. Instead of “trust me,” you’re giving investors a transparent, tamper-proof history of performance, with stronger guarantees than even a 3rd party audit.

Can't I just run 10,000 track records?

While technically possible, vBase makes this immediately apparent to an investor/allocator.

vBase is setup to surface this information, allowing investors to show allocators they’re not seeing a cherry-picked record.

Does this reveal my trades?

No. You need only share fingerprints (hashes) of your portfolios, which reveal no information about the portfolio itself to vBase or anyone else.

These timestamped fingerprints can be used to show a verifiable portfolio history.

How much does it cost?

We charge per stamped portfolio.

Pricing Tiers:

  • Free: 100 stamps per month
  • $50/month: up to 400 stamps
  • $200/month: up to 2,000 stamps
  • Beyond 2,000 stamps: $10 per additional 1,000

Examples:

  • Daily rebalancing: 4-5 strategies fit in the free tier; $200/month covers ~100 strategies.
  • Hourly rebalancing: $200/month covers ~12 strategies.
  • 10-min rebalancing: $300/month covers ~12 strategies

If you need significantly more (or more frequent) signals, we’ll work with you on a custom plan.

We also offer a 2-month free trial so you can explore everything before committing.

How do allocators or clients actually verify the record?

We have two main verification flows:

  1. Send potential clients a link to your portfolio history
  2. Send potential clients a link to a verified dashboard showing your live performance, like this one: https://portfolios.vbase.com/?sym=ASGSP5DR
Universally Trustworthy. Easy to use.
